Thomas R. McDaniel has served as a director of SemGroup® Corporation since November 2009, pursuant to the SemGroup plan of reorganization. He currently serves on the Audit Committee and Nominating & Governance Committee of the Board of Directors. McDaniel was executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Edison International, a generator and distributor of electric power and investor in infrastructure and energy assets, before retiring in July 2008 after 37 years of service. Prior to January 2005, he was chairman, chief executive officer and president of Edison Mission Energy, Edison International’s power generation subsidiary specializing in the development, acquisition, construction, management and operation of power production facilities. Prior to that, McDaniel served as president and chief executive officer of Edison Capital, a capital and financial services business subsidiary which invests worldwide in energy and infrastructure projects. McDaniel serves on the board of directors of SunPower Corporation, a manufacturer of high-performance solar electric systems worldwide for residential, commercial and utilityscale power plant customers. He also currently serves on the board of directors of Cypress Envirosystems, a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp., the Senior Care Action Network (SCAN) and SCAN Foundation. McDaniel graduated from the University of California with a bachelor of science degree.
McDaniel has extensive operational and financial management experience gained from his roles of increasing responsibility with Edison International, a public company with annual revenue of $14.1 billion in fiscal 2008. In addition, he provides the Board with his experience as a director and audit committee member of a public company. McDaniel’s operational and financial management experience and his understanding of the role of board of directors allow him to be a valued contributor to the Board. McDaniel qualifies as an “audit committee financial expert” as defined by the SEC.
